Google is Busted
Shocking but true, Google appears to be black listing web sites. Its the sort of thing that makes me cringe and, incidently, switch my default search to Yahoo, which is probably guilty of the same.
Proof:
Supression of somethingawful.com, a completely humourless website, but still, is that any reason to blacklist it?
Supression of results for a compeitor, Thunderstone.
Supression of an article dritical of Google, on Advogato.
I’m sure you can find plenty more. just search on a different engine. Google does delist sites that it thinks are trying to manipulate search results. However, in the case of SomethingAwful, I would assume that is unlikely since you can find them when searching for “somethingawful”. So they aren’t completely banned just ranked really low on lots of searches.
A scary trend…
