OK, here it is in all its unedited pixelated gore. The police tasering a student at the University of Florida Kerry speech.

Is the guy one of those annoying mike hogging grandstanding uni activists? You bet, but this is a University. That pretty much comes with the territory. If you don’t like standing awkwardly while some bozo spouts off, go to a $5000 a plate political fund raiser in Washington.

The cops had more than enough muscle to remove him, and, if you look closely the taser came out as soon as the mike went off, which is pretty brutal. Also the idiot was playing to the crowd he wasn’t physically threatening anyone as far as I can tell.

A certain percentage of people die when they are tasered, so I think its pretty irresponsible to use it just because someone is being uncooperative.

I guess this makes me an agitating lefty in need of supervision. However, before you pass judgment, consider how you would feel if the police had used a different form of non-lethal weapon. How would you respond if they had beat the kid into submission with a billy club? I assume that if I tasered someone or hit them with a club I would face similar criminal charges, so what gives?

Update: I guess this is not such a big deal, people get tasered all the time, for example, if you don’t have your library card at UCLA.

Update to the update: Even better, now we have a new device that causes intense pain to all people within an area. Sounds like the ideal torture weapon for a society that likes to pretend it doesn’t torture people. I’ll bet these babies are on back order.
